Wickens & Co hosted a Wine Tasting Dinner at the Club House of Crown Wine Cellars in Shouson Hill on 6 May 2011. We served some very Fine Wines at the dinner including the Cristal 2002, Margaux 1983, Fonsecca 1977 and etc. There was a Silent Auction on the evening and bidding items include Lafite Rothschild 2008, Margaux 1996 and the Mouton Rothschild 2000 with letter of authentication from the Chateau.
As key sponsors of the 2011 Le Grand Day of Indulgence at the Grand Hyatt hotel Hong Kong, Wickens & Co were delighted to welcome dozens of our clients and friends to enjoy a vertical tasting of Cheval Blanc from the 60’s,70’s & 80’s up until the present day presented magnificently by our guest of honour Monsieur Pierre Lurton, CEO of Ch. Cheval Blanc and d’Yquem.
The tasting continued with Dom Perignon from 3 decades followed by dinner which ended on a sweet note from Ch. d’Yquem 1988. Nobody felt the need for a drink the next day.
In the good company of famed wine critic and author Michel Bettane, Stephen spent Chinese New Year in Burgundy where they visited DRC, Dujac and Domaine Latour-Giraud amongst other famous domains.
Getting to grips with the terroir of this famously complicated (and rather cold in February) wine growing region was quite a challenge. Ending on a high note with numerous vintages of Le Montrachet very kindly opened at Domain Marc Colin this was definitely the wine trip of a lifetime & Stephen is most grateful to all the kind vignerons who allowed them to taste their fine wines.
On November 19th 2010 Wickens & Co were proud and delighted to welcome 100 VIP guests to The Mandarin Oriental Ballroom for a grand dinner and wine tasting marking the official launch of the company. Wickens & Co served fine wines including Ch. Lafite 1996, Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle 1990 and Yquem 2001 paired with the finest Chinese food.
